Hi, my dear readers. I am on one of my hostfamily's computers, which you then can conclude has an English keyboard. It is way easier to blog in English than with all the double letters for the extra letters in the Norwegian alphabet (aa,ae,oe). Before I start with the purpose of this post, I would just like to imply that I feel incredibly awkward writing in English on my Norwegian blog in the open, where everybody can read..
The homecoming week was a month ago, and the dance almost a month ago( 13th of October,2012). At first it started with dress-up days, yet not too many dressed up - me being one of them, although I did not have the clothes for the different dresscodes that were things like cowboy/cowgirl, belt-buckle day or something, etc. The whole theme was inspired by country( Cadillac Ranch). I wish I dressed up, but there are several dress-up days yet to come, so it's fine. There was an assembly during that week, and a part of it was to represent all the sports teams. I did tennis, so I was of course with my tennis team when we got represented. I must say, it was sort of embarrasing as it was hard to get in the ring we created as we were running towards the center of the "stage". I, among other team mates, had to press myself in the ring, which everybody could see. It was a joy when people cheered, though, and I don't think they really cared anyway.
Friday Oct. 12th, 2012 was the day of the homecoming game! There were a lot of people there; the bleachers were completely filled up. American football is pretty fun and exciting to watch, even thoug I do not understand one bit of it. However, the atmosphere was good as always. Although, the longhorns lost the game, buhu. That was also the day the cold really hit at night, I was freezing like crazy! Horrible...
Irena, me, Petra and Peppina at the homecoming game. Notice my t-shirt, aye?
There were also floats that represented each of the grades in high school. I am just going to show the Sophomore's float because they won for having the best float, and my hostsister, Kaylea, is also on the float
The winners! My hostsister is the first girl on the cow(?) with the lighter cowboy hat.
And so came the day of the homecoming dance! It is a normal ritual to do different events before the dance, and some people only did self-chosen activities and dropped the dance since it supposedly consists of mostly grinding. That statement was a little dissapointing because the teens seemed to dance rather "normal", haha! We'll see at prom, I guess. We first went to a park nearby called "Dino Park" and took some pictures, The weather was nice and sunny, not superhot. After the pictures, we drove to an Italian restaurant that found place on the strip. The restaurant was in a mall, and you can just imagine the amount of attention we got! It was pretty funny. The food was delicious. I tasted calamari, which was overall decent tasting. But I did not know what it was until my hostmom showed me a picture of it a week or so after, causing me to pop my eyes. All I got to know was that it was fish, so I went along. After we were done eating, we went to the dance. This was an overall OK experience, but that might be because of the group I was with. There was some sense of awkwardness in the group because of something that had happened, but I will not write about that.
We are missing two people here. From left: Jimmy, Peppina, me and Sam.
Me and Peppina in the car. She is so pretty! I have to make funnyfaces all the time, don't judge me..haha
Me and Sam in the restaurant...
Me and Sam again. In the Dino Park.
Isn't the corsage so beautiful!? Guys buy these for girls to wear them above the wrist, while girls buy something similar to put on the guys blazer jacket(?).
One shoulder-dress. Here you can see that part. My face looks weird and I look very tan( or yellow), I know.
Here is another picture of me(conceited much? Just kidding). I have edited this one. Love this dress, it looks so natural, yet pretty, People thought I looked a Greek goddess.. Insert awkward laughter here.
The whole group in the mall: Daniel, Irena, me, Sam, Peppina and Jimmy.
This is probably the longest post I have ever posted, but come on, it's homecoming!
New post will come soon, and this time: hopefully in Norwegian. Also, excuse any misspelling that may have occured in this post.
